Thanks to a generous donation from the Pevehouse Foundation, Peterson Health’s Ambulatory Care Center dons a new name as it prepares for a massive remodel. Gathering for the project’s ceremonial wall-breaking were board members, donors, and staff excited to see the future of Peterson Health’s outpatient services.
“ We have outgrown our existing space here, it’s been well over 20 years since this facility was originally built. Now that we’ve located our surgery center over to its new building, it gives us an opportunity to be able to expand our existing service lines,” said Interim CEO at Peterson Health, Joe Piszczor, at the wall-breaking ceremony.
This renovation comes as part of Peterson Health’s $50 million project to purchase additional land, build the Amanda and J. David Williams Surgery Center, and finally update the Ambulatory Care Center. The project was initially fundraised by the Peterson Health Foundation Board under their “TODAY. TOMORROW. ALWAYS.” Capital Campaign.
“ Our goal as a foundation was to raise $15 million – but in true Peterson fashion – we raised $20.4 million. I’d like to especially recognize our board member Missy Pevehouse-Hoelscher and the Pevehouse Family Foundation as lead donors for this part of the project,” said Curtis Finley, Peterson Health Foundation Board Chair.
Missy and the Pevehouse Foundation donated $1.5 million towards the remodelling of the Ambulatory Care Center to strengthen its current services and expand its capabilities as a medical center. Created in 2008 by Missy’s mother, Beverly Pevehouse, the foundation sustains the family’s history of philanthropy beyond the family alone.
“ Our focus is on Texas-based organizations, primarily in the Permian Basin region. The foundation provides grants in art, higher education, community endeavors and healthcare. Years ago, when Missy moved here, her philanthropic spirit extended into the Kerrville community, where she has sat on many boards, including Peterson,” said Marina Stanaland, executive director of the Pevehouse Foundation.
Renovations include a centralized pre-admissions testing area, increased imaging department with a new mammography machine, and relocating cardiac rehabilitation services to the Pevehouse Ambulatory Care Center, streamlining and maximizing care efforts.
“ Patients will have much more convenient access to lab draws, so less walking. Those who have suffered any setbacks will continue to enjoy our therapy services, whether it be physical, occupational, or speech. We’ll also have a dedicated pediatric therapy area as well as a new state-of-the-art sports gym,” said Piszczor.
The construction on the Pevehouse Ambulatory Care Center will be carried out in phases, to ensure patients and medical staff can still use the center during remodelling. Contracted with Asher Builders for construction, the project began Feb. 17 and is anticipated to be complete in April 2026.
