The Texas Association of Broadcasters has named JAM Broadcasting “Station of the Year” based upon their dedication to serving their community while providing a quality listening experience. The awards ceremony took place Aug. 8 at Kalahari Resort in Round Rock, Texas.
Nominated stations are judged upon all aspects of broadcast, including programming quality, public service, and recognition from their communities. Texas Association of Broadcasters’ Vice President Beth Bobbitt states, “… judges were inspired by JAM Broadcasting’s commitment to their listeners in Kerrville and the surrounding Texas Hill Country.”
JAM Broadcasting was founded in 2017 by owners Justin McClure, Leslee McClure, Angela Krause, and Michael Krause. Justin spearheads the company with over 30 years of broadcast experience.
McClure’s broadcast origins began in 1990 at a radio station in Breckenridge, Texas called KROO. Justin began as a disc jockey but quickly was mentored into an engineer as well.
Twenty-seven years later, Justin and his wife teamed up with his sister and brother-in-law to create a community-focused and results-driven broadcast company. Since then, JAM Broadcasting has made a commitment to serving its community in every aspect of their business practice.
Every year, JAM Broadcasting donates over a quarter of a million dollars of airtime to local non-profit organizations such as Kerrville Pets Alive!, K’STAR Children’s Shelter, and the City of Kerrville.
Diving deep into the needs of their community and making a difference is what JAM Broadcasting does. Bobbitt comments in a TAB press release, “JAM Management hopes the staff’s commitment to the community will inspire others to think differently, open their eyes and see what THEY can do to help.”
The staff sets this example by volunteering for programs like Meals on Wheels, serving on the board of directors for local non-profits, and spreading awareness for community events via their listening audience or extensive social media outreach.
Another way JAM Broadcasting serves its community is through its partnership with Schreiner University. Marketing students intern at JAM Broadcasting, gaining experience in sales, advertising copywriting, and commercial production.
In terms of quality content, JAM Broadcasting sets a precedent in local programming. All music played is selected by real people. Leslee McClure programs for the Buck and Cody Nichols programs the Rev and MikeFM.
JAM Broadcasting sheds a light on smaller local artists, scheduling performances during peak listening hours for maximizing awareness. The company also supports local artists through their local artist performance series, SongWriterTX. Hosted by local musician Brent Ryan, the monthly show exhibits Hill Country songwriters and more at the RockBox Theater in Fredericksburg.
JAM Broadcasting serves its clientele as well as its community. The company offers high quality service and results without gouging its customers. “We have marketing plans to fit any business’ budget.” states Justin.
Consisting of three different formats, JAM has a coverage area that reaches over eight counties in the Texas Hill Country. This broadcast presence offers clients a large market of advertising potential.
“JAM Broadcasting is very honored to receive this recognition for our continued commitment to serving the communities in our listening areas. We hope to inspire our listeners and other businesses to find ways to get involved.” says Justin.
JAM Broadcasting is located at 2125 Sidney Baker Street, Kerrville, Texas.
